Day 1

 

Arrival in the city of Venice and check in at the hotel. After walking a short distance to St. Mark's Square, in the heart of Venice, free time to explore the city on own.

In the afternoon, after an introduction and orientation session, a welcome dinner will take place in a local restaurant.

Day 2

 

The day will commence with a guided walking tour which will include the must-see sites of Venice: St Mark's Square, the Basilica of San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, and the Doge's Palace.
The focus of the afternoon tour will be on Jewish Venice: the medieval ghetto and its beautiful synagogues, as well as the Jewish Museum.

The evening will be on own.

Day 3

 

The islands of Murano and Burano will be visited on this third day in Venice.

Travelling back in time at the ancient basilica of Santa Maria and San Donato. Discover the art of traditional glassblowing in a factory and admiring the colourful houses of Burano.

Free time to enjoy lunch during the tour.

Evening free in San Marco.

Day 4

 

Morning drive to Ferrara to stroll through the medieval ghetto area of the city, followed by lunch.

Guided visit to the magnificent Museum of Italian Judaism and the Holocaust, recently inaugurated.

The last stage of the day will be in Bologna.

Day 5

 

The day will start with a guided tour of Bologna's Jewish museum and historic center, also having a chance to see Europe's oldest university.

Departure for Florence, after lunch, and time for a guided visit to the city's magnificent green-domed Great Synagogue and the Jewish Museum.

Day 6

 

Option of going to Shabbat services.

Early afternoon optional tour of the Piazza della Signoria, main point of the origin and history of the Florentine Republic, followed by a guided tour of Florence's magnificent Uffizi Gallery, famous worldwide for its outstanding collections of ancient sculptures and paintings from the Middle Ages to the Modern period and Galleria dell'Accademia, famous for its awe-inspiring statue of Michelangelo's David.

The remainder of the day and evening will be on own to explore this beautiful city.

Day 7

 

This day trip from Florence will start in San Gimignano, the city dominated by a skyline of medieval towers. Surrounded by 13th century walls, its old town centres on the Piazza della Cisterna, a triangular square lined with medieval houses.

After lunch, depart for Siena. Guided tour around the city's impressive historic centre and its world-famous Piazza del Campo, where a thrilling horse race is held twice a year.

Exploring the area of the old Siena Ghetto and the synagogue.

After this long day of sightseeing, return to Florence.

Day 8

 

Depart for Rome, stopping off in the beautiful and charming Arezzo, the town where the famous Italian poet, philosopher and philologist Francesco Petrarch, considered the father of humanism, was born (in 1304).

After the guided tour, the next stop will be in Rome.

Day 9

 

This morning will start with a visit to the Catacombs followed by touring Rome's Great Synagogue and its ghetto area, enjoying a group lunch as well.

In the afternoon, a highly engaging tour of Rome's ancient Forum and the Colosseum will take place.

The evening will be on own.

Day 10

 

On this final day of touring, there will be a guided visit to the Campo di Fiori (where the Talmud was publicly burned), and the Pantheon followed by a tour of the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica and the "Angles Unawares" monument to the migrants and the Refugees.

The remainder of the day and evening will be free, to explore the beautiful city of Rome or shop.

Farewell dinner.

Day 11

 

Following breakfast, depart for Rome's Fiumicino for flying back home.
